Photo of Amon Carter with other unidentified men. On reverse: "The picture was made at the time of the inaugural flight of the Texas Air Transport plane from Fort Worth south to Laredo. Two planes left here at the same time, one to Laredo and the other to Galveston. This was the first air mail flight south from Fort Worth. Mr. Carter is speaking from the grandstand in front of the hangar. Others in the picture, left to right, C. A. Winder, Utility Engineer; Percy Garrett, automobile dealer and air enthusiast; George Bishop, air enthusiast; E. L. Lipplet (seated), associated with Temple Bowen, president of TAT, and B. B. Buckeridge, Chamber of Commerce official (behind Carter). Buckeridge and Percy Garrett now are deceased. The ship is a Pitcairn, single motor biplane, which first used to carry the mail south. The ceremony was attended by about 5,000 people. At that time there was only one other air mail route, it being NAT to Chicago, Contract Air Mail Route No. 3. February 6, 1928, Fort Worth, Texas."
