Abstract
In this study I have established that beggars are people who come from different backgrounds and have diverse perspectives on their realities of life, while at the same time sharing particular life experiences marked by destitution, homelessness, lack of safety net, and controversial reactions from the public which could transpire into their particular interpretative lenses. I refer to these lenses as a beggars-centric hermeneutic. I worked with Matthew 6 and I explored how this text could be both engaging and alienating for beggars.
