dc.description.abstract"Flight" is a creative nonfiction essay collection comprised of three different genres of creative nonfiction. The first section features lyric essays in varying forms, the second section features two to three-page fast nonfiction pieces, and the third section features the steadfast personal essay genre, rendered creatively and in some instances, including elements of literary journalism. This collection is an artful analysis of the questions that one must confront in learning and re-learning one's personal identity. The theme of this collection centers upon the notion of choosing hope and optimism amid both personal crises and collective societal pain. In this collection, the speaker is forging forward, beating on, taking flight.
