Extraordinary is a memoir written about my experience watching my mother battle cancer for six years from age 11 until her death, four months before my 17th birthday. This story encompasses grief, depression, coming of age, as well as dealing with anxiety and building new relationships while being a young person in college. This project is dedicated in full to my mother, Karen Tidwell Poer (1960-2014).
