Mar 27/39. Mr. Amon Carter. Ft. Worth Texas. Dear Mr. Carter: I was so pleased that yu sent me one of the souvenir menus of the banquet given by the Ft. Worth Club in your honor. The Copy of the splendid portrait of you will be placed in David's trophy case for I feel much of David's success is due to the confidence you have had in him and the friendly interest you have so generously shown him. Also let me thank you for the cut out panel of the whole team. You were most thoughtful to send me one. I do hope you under stand the whole situation regarding David's decision to play professional football. I feel keenly your disappointment in not being told of the decision before it was published in the papers but I assure you my brother had no intention of any hurt. It was an unfortunate mistake and over sight on his part which he regretted deeply. You were fine to overlook it and understand and allow the signing to take place in your office. I can but hope that it will prove to be the right thing. In face of such opportunity the contract offered I could not refure to consent. Thanking you again for your many evidences of friendship. Most sincerely, Ella May Keith O'Brien
