March 22 "42, Dear Mr. Carter:- Mr. Garner has been laid up since before your letter came - cold settled in his back - and I have been nurse and a little of everything else - he is still in bed. Amon Jr.'s photograph came yesterday. It was surely something nice to look at, and helped to divert his mind. You are not at all proud of him - are you? God bless him and other boys like him. I'm knowing some are doing all they can to keep out of the service. Thank you more than words can expres for giving us this picture - it makes us know him better -and again I say God bles him - Our best love - your friend Ettie Garner
