dc.description.transcription | January 7th - 54 Dear Mrs. Deakins= I was very much pleased to hear your letter of the 5th= It makes me sad to learn that my dear friend Amon has not been out of his office these past months= I pray that the good Lord keeps him in good health for many years to come= Our Republic as well as our state need more men like Amon Carter= Tell him I have been "laid up" in my house for the past five days, up today haveing enough to scribble this= I am going to be "stingy" with his xmas present= Only ladies and special friends will join me in "blow for liberty" [illegible] occation= About give [illegible] So adios, Jno N Garner | |
