March 14th 1943 Dear Mr Carter: I have just read, in a Texas paper, that your fine son is missing in action. Probably words are of little comfort, but I want you to know that I am praying with all your friends that news of his safety will soon reach you. Whether as a prisoner or a willing sacrifice, may God give you strength to glory in the fact that he has written his name with those of Trave an dbowie, with Colin Kelly and the great of all times. God Bless and Keep you, Sincerely D(illegible) V. Allred
