Hope Connection 2.0 is a therapeutic family camp designed to bring healing to families who have expanded through adoption, all based on Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), a childhood trauma intervention developed at TCU. As an Assistant Director of the inaugural Hope Connection 2.0, I was extensively involved in creating lesson plans, organizing groups, and helping to ensure that the camp weekends ran smoothly. After completing the first session, I was asked to manualize the Hope Connection 2.0 camp. For the past year and a half I have worked to create a comprehensive guide to not only the "what" and the "how" of camp, but also to explain the "why". Each minute of the schedule has been thoughtfully designed to promote healing and re-connection for families, and the manual provides explanations based on research that supports the structure of camp. This manual will be used by the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development as training material for their newly formed TBRI Practitioner Family Camp Training program. The ultimate goal is that this manual will serve as a guide to new trainees so that family camps with TBRI can implemented with fidelity around the world.
