Interventions for Improving Balance in Individuals with Down Syndrome: A Systematic Review
The purpose of this review is to (a) identify which interventions have been used between 2010 and 2020 for improving balance in individuals with Down Syndrome, (b) to evaluate the methodological rigor with which those interventions were investigated, and (c), determine the clinical relevance of the outcome measurements used in order to determine whether or not the intervention(s) were effective. This was achieved by performing a systematic review in which balance intervention strategies for individuals with Down syndrome are identified and described. Six studies published between 2010 and 2020 were included in this systematic review. It was found that the most effective balance intervention strategies incorporated some form of Virtual Reality therapy.
