dc.description.transcription2-7-44Dear Folks,Here it is Monday afternoon (today is Tuesday I just found out), before P.T. and I have a few minutes to myself. This unaccounted fortime comes from the fact that I am through with ground school. The only thing that is between me and basic is one more check ride and 10:01 of flying. I have 79 hours & 59 minutes and I still like it. They have started letting me do acrobatics now so I like it more than ever. Now about this gentleman, Mr. Bobo. He owns about half of Clarksdale, he picked a “helluva” town to own half of but nevertheless he does. He is a hard shell, whatever Frank Norris is, and his only hobby is being nice to Cadets. He hasa huge house which will accommodate 9 Cadets. The only thing is we never get overnight passes anymore so the rooms are going to waste. He has 3 cars, and 3 riding horses which he generously parcels out to his guests.2-8-44That was as far as I got beforeP.T., and today they started a new ground school course for us reverts, I knew that they wouldn’t let us have a minute’s piece for a few days. Anyhow I about completed Mr. Bobo yesterday.I ran a little short on money so I just sent $20.00 home (money order). Papa, spend whatever you want of it for a birthday present, at least five, and save the rest for my insurance. Let me know what you bought yourself and how much more I need to send next month to complete my insurance payment.Send L.H, my congratulations and tell him to send me some of his luckif he has any leftover because I’ll sure need it.That is about all except, I don’t know whether I have told you this before or not, I am now flying P.T. 17s. The same thing Jerry started out with.[drawing of airplane] Remember? I made four of them at one time.Loads o’ love,Joe
