N.Y.Dear Folks,This is Joe (somewhere else in England) Hays writing this time. Although several days have transpired since the last time I wrote nothing worthwhile has happened. Anyhow this V mail will cover all I can tell. I can say that and I will say that the weather is cold and damp here. The fuel shortage is no joke over here either. I’ll be glad when we start flying so I can keep warm. That may sound foolish but they give us electric flying clothes over here so flying for a change will be warmer that sitting on the ground.Sometime in the month of Feb the Government is going to send home for me the tidy sum of $117 and here is how I want it spent. First, pay my insurance for me. Second Papa, take out what I owe you, and third spend the rest of it on the new car and consider it a birthday present. The car can use that fixing up so don’t argue with me. Mama, you or Ruth one write me and tell whether he did or not.Out of paper. I’ll write tomorrow. Love, Joe[V-MAIL]
