dc.description.transcription3-16-45Dear Folks,Look Ruth, all of your stationery wasn’t ruined. In fact a good bit of it is in pretty good shape. You ought to see some of the first few sheets in the box. They look like they came out of a concrete mixer. That F/O at the top of this reminds me, my recommendation for promotion came through from Tucson last week. Sqd. Operations called me and said for me to come down and sign some papers and my blue bar would turn to gold. When I got down there the sgt. Said that he had just checkedthe papers and they were out of date. I threatened to stomp my feet and scream but to no avail. They said they were sorry but I would have to go through the whole thing again. I’ve started and now it should take about another month. This army! One cheerful note. I took my 64 today in case you’ve forgotten that is a physical exam, and I passed it like no body’s business. This is the first time my blood pressure has been perfect. My depth perception was perfect and schneider was also very good. I have never flunked or even come close to flunking a 64 but I always had a little trouble with those three items. Combat must be agreeing with me. Anybody that believes that is crazy. One thing, it doesn’t keep me from being sleepy.Oh, I almost forgot, I’ve got a 5 day pass coming up on the 24th. I might have already told you but I don’t think so.I’ll write before I go.All my love,Joe
