Oct 10, 1944 Dearest Mother, Received 5letters from you yesterday and the latest Sept 10th. Also 3 swell ones form jean, latest one Sept 13th. You keep mentioning how certain people are so kind by doing this and that. Well, I wish you wouldn't say that because it really makes me mad. We even have officers here who worked in Colorado Springs and other towns and they gave a lecture about things at home, and the reaction wasn't very good. I'm not complaining about anything, but can't understand why people do certain things. Bruce martin is ok. He just doesn't write often. We all now believe we will stay in this camp until war is over. We get a big kick out of these letters in which people will say we will be home by Christmas. With new officers continually arriving, we have a good picture on what is happening on both sides. I haven't made any plans as to what I'll do when I get home, except drink milk and eat a lot of eggs. I want to stay in the army until everything is over; in fact would give anything to stay over here 3 or 4 months. The main reason I want is to be able to do as I please. Although I have been gone 2.5 years, I still haven't seen very much. All of us, except the married men, feel the same way. Thanks for the pictures of you and the dogs. Give my love to everyone. Lots of love, Amon Jr. Received Book parcel from Switzerland.
