dc.description.transcription | Dear Mother & Dad, One year ago today I left the states and it certainly seems like a long time. I only hope I am back home this time next year. So far I haven't received any mail although a few of the other officers have. All the Americans are leaving this camp to go to another one which will be for Americans only, I think it is in Poland and as soon as I find out our new address I will let you know, although our mail will be forwarded from this address. The censor will enclose 3 photographs of me which were taken immediately after my arrival here. Give one to Jean for me and the other two are for you. Tell her I will write her next week. We have been playing a lot of baseball and the British haven't the slightest idea what its about but we are the same when they play cricket. Please send me some magazines and stories that will not be censored. I am getting along fine so don't worry because I will be home before long. Give everyone my love and tell them to keep the letters coming. The only thing I need is food, coffee, clothes, and cigars, but can't use any clothes that aren't military. Will write from new camp or before. All my love, Amon JR | |
