Dear Mrs. Deakins - Delayed writing as I was sure I'd hear from Amon Jr. some time during the Yuletide and I did, It was a whole X-mas to hear from him and know that he was still all right. His letter was dated in Sept. and of course, events have occurred which have, no doubt, changed his point of view. He said that he was well and that he hoped to be in his way have soon. It was so much more optimistic than most of his privous letters and I do hope and pray that he was allowed to express is real thoughts. He has certaintly been brave and he deserves everything good for all the rest of his life, for I know life is so, so dull there - when have you heard and how was he? I try to write him everyday but don't get it done everyday. That is all that I can do and it, certainly makes me happy to do anything that might bing any joy to him there. Do hope you had a Merry Xmas and that the coming year brings much joy to you and yours and that it brings peace again to our world. Seems I never get twice to anything I really want to do anymore and I'm so busy doing the tasks that must be done. Probably true the whole world over, now. Our church gave a Xmas caulata andit required so much time and work. However, we did ourselves proud and felt that all our efforts had been rewarded. I'm spending a quiet Xmas this year at home with my parents. My dear father has been in ill health adn I don't like to get too far from home. It is nice to be with my folks and such a privilege now a days. We don't stop often enough and think about what all our boys are missing who are so far away from their homes and loved ones, do we? We had such a lovely letter from friends of ours, who live in San Anonio this Yuletide. In it was an article from the Star Telegram concerning the bravery etc of their son, Lt. Kelly, who had relived from overseas duty. It was sometime ago that the article was written but it was inded, interesting. Santa Claus was quite nice to me and so were the children in my classes. They all remembered me with either gifts or cards. Such sweet ones, too. Do hope that your holiday was a good one and that St. Nick was good to you too. When the rush is over and you can find time, I'd love to hear from you. Again , thanks so very, very much for your nice interesting letters through the past year. KNow Amon Jr. thanks you greatly. Know you're so busy and I sincerely appreciate your writing and telling me about the letters received from him. May the comign year bring him bak to his dear Texas again andmay many blessings come your way. Sincerely, Margaret E. Harding
