January 12, 1931 My dear Mr. Carter, I wish to express my deep appreciation of the generous off made by you and Mr. Rogers to the citizenship of waco for its charity and unemployment relief. The officers of our Federation of Clubs deemed it the wiser course to transfer your kind offer to the Committee especially appointed here to administer charity in this time of stress. This Committee is composed of some of our leading club women and also some of our representative men. Two of these Mr. Joe Mitchell, a City Commissioner, and Mr. Asher Sanger, of the well-known Sanger family, are planning as you have doubtless already heard, to attend the conference in your office tomorrow morning. I am writing simply to express my gratitude for the consideration you have shown waco, and the courtesy to me. With every good wish for the splendid enterprise I am, Cordially yours, Mary L. P. Darden
