dc.description.transcription13 February 69 College Place Hampton, Virginia Dear Mr. Carter: You are the presentation of thoughtfulness. I was thrilled to have your nice letter an enclosed snaps. You were a peach to send them to me. Amon Jr. and Charlie both look very well, I do hope Amon Jr. didn't catch something from contact with the Arabs. He is a fringe looking lad. Mr. Carter, I know your anxiety, I share it more than I care to admit. My little girls said, Mommy we must be without fear for this will help Daddy. I think she is about right. I keep holding the thought of the Ancient Greek who said, and this too, shall pass. I have just return from Washington while there I talked to Col. Sexton who had just turned from North Africa with General Deer's. He said the 91st was in fine shape and good spirits. My last letter from Charlie was dated the eighteenth of January. he made it clear to mea as did Colonel Sexton that they are in action by now. Charlie wrote after the last officers call before the marching they are a fine group of officers. they will fight to the best of their ability. My elder brother is in the War Department. If anything comes up he will let me know. If I have any news rest assured, I shall notify. you at me. After studying the pictures of the armored troops I received by the President of Casablanca, I believes I infer the First Division replaced the Second at the point. I hope put the copy of the Duchess of Richmond away from Charlie. It is a fine souvenir. Thank you with all my heart, Julia Reeder Summerall
