dc.description.transcriptionCopy of Cords(?) received from my son Lt Leonard Vaden who is a prisoner. Written June 7. 44 Dear Mother. We celebrated this camps first anniversary yesterday with a big feed. Stuff we've grown here and saved from the Red Cross parcelsm everyone here is in high spirits. have received no mail in over two weeks. I cant kick though. Anxious to hear about Janeth and the baby. give my love to everyone I'm gitting along fine. so dont worry. see you soon your loving son Leonard. Written June 15-44. Dear Mother. have received five letters from you this week, including Janeth's picture. Still no word about the baby. I hope everything is OK. I've received 2 food parcels and four tobacco parcels. yes I've met Amon Carter Jr. Swell guy. Was his Dad able to tell much about our Camp? understand that you can write air mail for six cents, how about typing it? dont worry, everythings OK here. Your loving son Leonard. Written July 27-44 Dear Mother. I sincerely hope that Janeth is getting better now. I just received your letter telling me how sick she was after the baby was born. Mother if you need money for anything, use the money I have alloted to the bank. Was happy to hear that Jones and Edd could come home. Was also glad to hear that Rubys brother is to visit you, Christmas. give my love to all the family, and my friends. dont worry. Your loving son Leonard. Mr Carter Jones and Edd he speaks of, are my other two sons, who are in the Navy. the red cross helped to secure them a (?) when my Daughter was so ill. Janeth and Ruby he speaks of, are my Daughters, who are here with me. You see how he told me he would be home for Christmas? hope our sons will join us soon.
