dc.description.transcription | Dear Sir: I sincerely hope you will forgive for taking up your time because I know you are a very busy man so I'll not bother you too much. The reason I am writing is about your son. I come from Fort Worth and I went to Junior High School with him out at W. C. Stripling, and played football with him along with Mike Harter, Weldon Maple, Buddy Russell, Zi. Sears, etc. I just learned he was missing and is in Germany. I just want you to know that we will do the job, and before you know it you two will be together again. Please take my word and believe me when I say we will. I was in the Pacific when the war started and for a long time afterwards, and you can rest assured us Texans will do our part; and with a little help from the fellows from "Cowtown" the guys from Dallas will get along. Again I ask you to forgive for taking up your time, but I just wanted you to know how I feel about all of this. Will you give my best to "Old Cowtown" Sincerely, Vernon L. Wood | |
