Description | Photo of Frank Hawks and Amon Carter shaking hands. On reverse: "Captain Frank Hawks and Amon Carter just before taking off in Hawks' single motored plane from Fort Worth, Texas to New York City, on the morning of March 30th, 1932. During the flight they passed through several severe storms and at one time during a storm the motor went dead and the two prepared to take to parachutes, however the motor picked up. Laer on the wind blew part of the canvas off the right wing of the plane. In spite of all the mishaps Hawks and Carter landed safely at Bennett Field, N.Y. the night of March 30th, 1932." Signed by Frank Hawks: "Amon parachutes 'n' everything Frank M Hawks March 30, 1932" |
