dc.description.transcription[E D iron 6-3195] 1960, March 24. Mr. W. P. Rooney, 299 N. Water St., Fort Stockton, Texas. Dear Mr. Rooney: I was very sorry to miss you last week end, and it was my fault for deciding so quickly to come out there. The weather broke quite unexpectedly after the long siege of wet and undependable days, and it was just too good an opportunity to miss. I wired you as quickly as we decided we could get away, but could well understand you had perhaps already made other plans or left town. My friend, Mr. H. H. Morse of this city, and I found we had other matters scheduled for the next two weekends, and it with us it was either come now or wait probably until after Easter. We did appreciate Mrs. Rooney's Interest and courtesy in our be-half, and enjoyed talking to her and admiring the flowers in her yard. Your vegetation seemed some days ahead of ours. Thanks to your information relayed to us, we got in touch with Mr. Wilson Smith and had a wonderful visit with him. found him a most Interesting character and formed a wonderful opinion of him. He will tell you about our contact with the owner of the specimen you wrote about. It is undoubtedly a meteorite, with some very nice and unusual features, and Mr. Smith is going to help me try to acquire it eventually. I am very much indebted to you in this connection, for the lead. As to the little iron I already have allegedly from that region and presumably found by Mr. Moore, your predecessor, I am going to ask just one more think, to establish a limit on the date when It was picked up. See the question on the attached card. I still hope to meet you at a later date out there, or if I can every do anything for you in Fort Worth, call on me. Yours most sincerely,
