November 30, 1935 Dear Grandma & Grandpa. I hope this letter reaches you feeling as fine as I do. I am getting along fine. I weigh over 180 pounds now and I believe I'm an inch taller. We went on a maneuver last Tuesday out at Camp Bullis. They are experimenting with a new method. Each section had a truck to haul the equipment in and the truck followed it up on all moves. I was a switchboard operator. One good thing is that I won't have to lead a mule any more. They have permanent mule leaders now. As I told you before we've been taking lessons in Radio here at the Co. every morning. The Signal Corps Radio school has started now and I go to it every afternoon. There were 50 men at the school and they didn't have room for but 100, so they are weeding out a 1/3 of them. I don't think I will have to quit. I can receive about 12 words a minute now. I wonder if Broken Bow won the game with Idabel on Turkey Day? The 23rd beat Kelly Field 6-0 the 27th and are still unbeaten. We certainly had a banquet the 28th. The colonel, the adjudant and their wives and children and some more officers and the wives and children of the enlisted men at with us. We had gobs of turkey , cakes, pies, ham, all kinds of dressing, shrimp salad, oyster soup, oranges, apples, bananas, grapes nutes and candy and ice cream. And every body got a package of cigarettes. I swapped mine for a show ticket. I wonder where Ray will move to? I know you will miss them. Tell them goodbye for me too. If they don't move too far I will see them when I come home. When you see miss Stafford again tell her I certainly would like to see her. I'll be glad when I come home. I want to go to Ky. I know a boy here named Toon who came from Mayfield Ky. He said he knew lots of Green's and Criders. Well, I can't think of anything else to write about so I'll close. Lots of love, Smith S.L. Green Hdqrs. Co. 23rd Inf. Ft. Sam Houston, Texas Mr. W.M.
