dc.description.abstract | In this paper I seek to explain the various ways composers use the French horn and its extended techniques in film music dating from the 1930s to the present. I specifically focus on the techniques of stopped horn, glissandi, trills, extreme upper register and flutter-tongue. I also concentrate my studies on three film genres; science-fiction/fantasy, western and horror. | |
