M Love Springfield Limestone Co P.M.s please Texas hasten this to its destination C W Love Capt Moody’s Co Col. Gregg’s Regmt Tex. Vol. with a young friend of the Waco Rifles reported myself his name is Robt Grey he and I started to his fathers down in Alabama but I was unable to to go any farther than here – the house of Mr. Ely Petty and his wife where I have been as kindly treated as I could desire for the four weeks that I have been here I have also had a Dr Harris attending on me for nothing but he has taken as good care of me as if he were going to get a regular fee – I have also been visited by a Dr Ripito an agent for the State of Texas to distribute money to the needy Texas Soldiers he gave me $20.00 Confederate Note this is the first I have received since I left home and it was gladly recd as I had been entirely out for some time I will possibly not be able to leave here in a week or two yet as my wound is not yet healed go back to next page (Page 2) and do not know what regmt I will join but expect I will join Col. Whartons Cavalry as it is the only Texas Regmt I know of any where about here I will write to you as soon as I locate myself if I should stop any length of time at any place I wish you to write to me but until I let you know that I am located for some time it will be useless to write I have delayed writing till now because I wanted to know that I was improving before I wrote Yours with fillial regard C.W. Love P.S. I left Uncle Andrew John W & Andrew jr at Hopkinsville I have not heard from them since but think it more than likely they were taken prisoners by Jackson CWL
