Michelle Smith discusses her early life, education, and career. Smith attended TCU in the 1990s and was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. At that time Black students made up a small percentage of the student body. She was one of two Black female TCU cheerleaders at the time. She discusses the campus climate and experiences with racism. Smith was also a columnist for the student newspaper the TCU Skiff and frequently wrote about race. Smith was on the ballot for Homecoming Queen but did not win.
