| dc.description.abstract | Globally, 39 million people are living with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), with 1.3 million new HIV acquisitions in 2022. Compared to the general population, substance use disorders are more prevalent among people living with HIV. The current study aimed to develop a technology-based sociomedical HIV education program, and pilot the program in a sample of substance use treatment counselors. Results demonstrated high acceptability of the Online Prevention Education Now (OPEN) program. Knowledge on HIV and PrEP increased after completing the OPEN program. Although non-significant, results show a trending decrease in stigma toward people living with HIV and PrEP users. The findings of the current study inform the feasibility and efficacy of online training courses for preventative services education. | en_US |
