Description
Letter from Edward P. Henderson (of the Smithsonian Institution) informing Oscar Monnig that he has finally found the missing cut specimens of the Tishomingo meteorite, and that he is very sorry to have misplaced them. Explains that he had very carefully placed them in a secure storage area, away from other meteorite specimens, with a note stating that they belonged to Monnig, so that they would not be liable to fall prey to visiting curators and investigators trying to cut a sample for themselves, and then he forgot all about them and where he had put them in the intervening years. States that due to their value he will be sending them securely packaged but separate from one other for their own protection, and that he will be enclosing two invoice forms which Monnig will have to send back the white copies of. Finally closes that he really does hope that Monnig might still be willing to donate some of the Tishomingo meteorite to the Smithsonian one day as he has so much, and it would be a very nice addition to their collection.
