dc.description.transcription | Thorp Spring, Texas.May 23, 1895.My dear Brother: Your letter received this afternoon. We have decided for you to come home as soon as your school closes. So write them at Bear Lake that you will not be able to take the Normal. You will have to visit your friends in the country and give them a final good bye before coming. Theywould,no doubt, feel hurt if you should leave without seeing them again. Go spend a week with them, then hurry home to us. I can hardly wait for the time to come. Just to think you have been away from us nearly two years-I don’t see how I have stood it. I hope we will never have to be separated so long again. Even when we all have homes of our own I trust we will never become indifferent, but that we will see each other every year.I hope we may be fortunate enough to live very near each other. I can’t think we will ever feel as some brothers and sisters do. We must not –we will not –we will always love one another as we do now. And ever ready to offer assistance to the needy one.Am feeling better today –hope soon to be strong. Am needed to help on the orations and recitations for commencement, and this is a great incentive to get well. I like to feel that I’m needed, -that there is aid I can render that no other can. Mr. Faris has gone to Houston to attend the Old Soldiers Reunion, -several others went from here.
We expect Blanche next week. I wrote her last night to let me know just what day so I can have some one meet her at depot. Mama dreams nearly every night of you looking so shabby. There is no need forher to worry about it is there? You keep yourself in good condition all the time don’t you?The last two nights I’ve dreamed about you but it is nothing unusual for me to dream of you.Excuse such a scrawl. Have not written much with a pen for some time. Will send you more money soon as I can go to G. Much Love, Yours-Sister.[Page 3]I haven’t got my consent yet not to teach next session, but on account of my health I fear I’ll have to give it up. If I do I have some fine plans on foot which I’ll disclose later. [page 1]Wish I felt like writing the long letter I want to write. I’ll begin soon to count the days until you will be with us. Can hardly contain ourselves we are so anxious to hear from W-.think we surely will hear this week. Carlie is getting weary about positions. | |
