dc.description.transcription | Mrs. Claude Lillian 45 Jersey Street San Francisco, California, U.S.A. From: Smith L. Green U.S. Army Prisoner of War Osaka, Japan Dearest Virginia: I received your package May 28, 1944 and was very glad to get it. No one else sent one but I have great expectations. You said to let you know what I wanted, so here goes; heavy socks, underwear, laundry soap, army chocolate bars, dried fruit, cheese, sugar, malted milk tablets, instant soup mix, peanut butter, nuts, saccharine, honey, soluble coffee, prepared drinks, cigarettes and a cheap fountain pen and watch. Send as much of each as possible. I will be forever grateful. I am well and working. Give my love to everyone and tell them to write. Teach the kiddies to "Uncle" because I'll be back someday. Tell Claude and Keith to keep the beer cold. I would like to hear from Doris and David. All my love, Smith Mr. and Mrs. Claude Lillian 45 Jersey Street San Francisco, California U.S.A.
