dc.descriptionAmon Carter met Winston Churchill in London in December 1942. The following May Carter sent Churchill, through the White House, one of his famous Stetsons. Churchill received the hat and is seen holding it in a New York Times front-page photograph of a December 1943 meeting between Churchill, Franklin Roosevelt, and Mr. and Mrs. Chiang Kai-shek.
