dc.description.transcription"Dear Mr. Carter, I was in Abilene last week saw a friend of yours that was a friend of mine. Also she told me you could help me get a job at the Bomber Plant if I could see you and talk to you. I have finished an Aircraft Training Course- have tried to see the personnel director but they refused to let me in, said they employed by written applications only, my application was sent in the first of February, so unless I have some influential person that lives ther to help me I am afraid I will have to wait a long time before I'm called. This is unusual for me to ask a favor of someone that I have never met, but be that as it may. 'I have got to have a job.' I am not a Dallas product, Abilene, is my home. As to my character and ability I can furnish any information that you wish to know. Anything that you might do to help me will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Sincerely, Bettye Shelton"
