Venus, Texas, April 29, 1940 Amon G. Carter Fort Worth, Tex. Sir, First I want to say this is not written thinking I can be of any assistance to you in your own defence, with Harold Ickes, I regard him as on of the most igorant of all the ignoramuses Roosevelt has had on his string. He shows to be ignorant in accusing you of being a democrat, if you ever lined up with the bunch of grafting republicans that Roosevelt can handle, and their form of government that they borrowed from Russia, Italy, and a sprink from France. He is quick to remind you he brought gifts to Texas on more than one occasion, I wonder if he had any thing to do with that slime tainted money throwed down around San Antonio, just after Mr. Roosevelts trip to TX, when he nodded at one man in the big state of Teas, (Well he lost). But Roosevelt you remember sent his condolence, and promiced to do something for the poor Devil as soon as possible. Maby that's the reason Ickes & Roosevelt think that Texas is solidly for him. I was born a democrat 60 years ago thought I was a pretty smart democrat, but I let Frank Roosevelt make a sucker out of me and now he is trying to make me like it, by trying to impose four more long years of his fool stuff on, and down me, by a bunch of paid fools to show me how it is done, and I object! Permit me to say Mr. Carter if you could do exactley what Mr. Ickies is trying to accuse you of doing "Stop Roosevelt" you would be praised by sensible people. as long as ink is put on pages of history. Respectfully Sam. T. Mills. Venus, Texas, R. #2 P.S. If you care to publish this in part or in full and do so, remember me with the copy of your paper, as I am not a subscriber. (Thanks)
