Abstract | Interaction between galaxies is of critical importance to the growth and evolution of galaxies. I explore the environmental influences on the star formation in low-mass galaxies with stellar mass 8 ? log(M_star/M_solar) ? 10 at a redshift of 0.01 < z < 0.07 using the spatially-resolved data observed by the fourth-generation Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-IV) / Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory (MaNGA). I conclude that the star-formation activities in low-mass galaxies are affected by their environmental conditions. I observe a global enhancement on star-formation rate in low-mass galaxy pairs that have a line-of-sight kinematic separation of less than 100 km/s at a projected separation of less than 400 kpc when the stellar mass ratio between the selected MaNGA galaxy and the associated companion is 0.1 ? M_companion/M_MaNGA ? 4. The elevated star formation in my galaxy sample peaks at the central region of galaxies and decreases with increasing galactic radius. |
