dc.description.transcription | Uvalde, Texas May 25" 1944 Dear Mr. Carter:- A few days ago the general came to see Mr. Garner bearing your gift - He was accompanied by two young West Pointers - one being in command of Garner Field - the visit tho necessarily short, was most enjoyable. I could not resist "butting" in and sharing a few minutes of the time. I am not so well as you have always known me, but I'll write what few letters Mr. Garner wants written. Mr. Garner says he deeply appreciates your gift and is going to be selfish enough to enjoy it all himself. What do you hear from your son? God keep him safe and well. Mr. Garner sends loving regards to which I entirely join - Faithfully, Ettie Garner. | |
