Midway Island January 4, 1936 Dear Mr. Carter: Forgive my tardiness in dropping you a line and thanking you for an exceptionally nice party at the St. Frances Hotel upon the return from our trip to Hong Kong. The dinner was excellent, the dancing fine, and all in all everyone had a very enjoyable evening. our one regret was that you could not be there to enjoy it with us. This is my first trip out this way since our trip in October. In the meantime I have been on my vacation. We are delayed here a day, westbound. Again I want to thank you for your dinner party and wish you a very happy and prosperous New Year. Very truly yours, Harry R. Canaday Navigator, Philippine Clipper Alameda to Hong Kong
