dc.description.transcription | April 22, 1943 Dear Mr. Carter, I am so glad that you have had further news about Amon, Jr. Knowing already that he was a prisoner, I am sure it must have been a great relief to hear again and know definitely where they had taken him. I am so sorry that he could not have been an Italian prisoner as you had hoped for. Margaret Warren called me last week and said that she had received news about her husband the same night you received yours. She said that you had called her and I know she appreciated it. There are so many of us that feel so indebted to you for your kindness. I just wish there were something we could do to help you now that your son is in enemy hands. Mr. Carter, Margaret and I both enjoyed our visit with you so much. It was so nice of you to give us so much of your time. I'm so proud of my Scotch. I've written Buddy that it is for him to open when he gets home. Mr. Carter, I do hope that soon you will have some good news to tell about Amon and until then I want you to know that I am praying that your efforts in trying to get him out will be a success. Sincerely, Marie Burney | |
