Louisville 3, Ky August 17, 1944 Dear Mr. Carter, Some time ago I corresponded with you about Gary and you were kind enough to send me what information you had and also sent some newspaper clippings. Since he was taken prisoner and was allowed to write, Gary has written to me about once every month, but I haven't heard from him for 3 months and naturally am quite worried. In his last letter to me he told me that he would see me soon. I don''t know if he was just being extremely hopeful or if he had some information of his possible release. I know if anyone has heard from him it would be you so if you would write and tell me of any news you have of him I should certainly appreciate it. Sincerely Margaret Bartel
