March 12, 1943. Dear Mr. Carter: I read in the Omaha "World Herald" that your son is reported missing in action. I know there are no words which anyone can write which will ease your anxiety and heartache but I did want you to know our hopes and prayers are with you for your son's safe return. While I've met you, I doubt that you would remember but I think you know my father, Jim Minnick, and sister, Peggy. I know they join me in the wish that you will have word from Amon, Jr., that he is well. Sincerely, Muriel Minnick Schmidt
