South Bend March 26-43 Dear Mr. Carter I received the clipping from the Star Telegram about Amon. I had read it in a Chicago paper some time ago but I haven't been able to bring myself to writing to you. Mrs. Carter had been writing me quite frequently and was so worried about Amon the last letter I had from her she had decided that no news was good news, perhaps, and the following morning Mrs. Hering called my attention to this article about AMon. I was simply crushed. I wrote Mrs. Carter right away. I know she's just heartbroken and you of course and I don't know of anything I could say to make the burden any easier- You know how I feel about Amon. He was my star patient and I'm sure that he'll come home alright some day. he has such a marvellous personality- likable and human and that goes a long way. You will have to be a good soldier. keep your chin up as he would want you to and believe me I'm praying that the good Lord will bring him back safely. With my deepest sympathy Agnes Moran
