Abstract | "Explorations in the Other" is a collection of three short stories. Following different narratives, it explores queer perspectives as written in close third person. In doing so, these stories are not told in the voice of the narrator, putting distance between the reader and the actions of the characters. Acknowledging this fact, "Explorations in the Other" asks what the implications are, then, of the reader's role as spectator. "Closer" is a short story about a strained sibling relationship, "Mommy" explores a woman's struggle with mental health, and "Become Human" is a novel excerpt about a man and his robot. |
