dc.description.transcription10-31-43Dear Folks,Another Sunday and plenty of time to write. Can’t say that I am proud of it because I’m not. By all rights I should be out on open post night now but instead, it was my turn to be charge of Quarters. Besides thatI got cheated out of going to the farewell dance last night too for the same reason. There is nothing new to tell except the first reports of the whereabouts of my shipping have been more or less confirmed. I still don’t know the hour or the day but it isnear. The next letter you get from me will be from my new address. The only thing new that I have to tell is that I had been to the pistol and the automatic rifle range. Papa, the first time I went I didn’t do much better than you would have folks believeBrother did. The second time I went I qualified with a score of 62. This entitlesme to buy and wear a medal. If I have time Monday I’ll buy one and send it to you.I tried to call home today but there was a 10 total hour delay so I cancelled the call. I’ll call as soon as I get to Primary. This will be all until then.Love,Joe
