dc.description.transcription6-19-44 June ‘teenthDear Folks, especially you Papa, since I forgot Father’s Day yesterday. Did you ever hear of a Flight Officer? I know that you have at one time or another, but now you will hear more because you will soon have one in the family. The list came out today and I was one of the ones that didn’t make Lt. Of course,I still have my 50-3 to pass or I won’t even get T/O. I hate it that I didn’t get Lt., and all of that, but I don’t feel bad about it. My record has been perfectly clean all the way through, and so have been the records of most of the other boys who got it so we all feel that there was nothing we could have done about it. The only obvious difference is that I will buy a blue bar instead of a gold one. If you have any questions about it shoot them in the next letter and I will see if I can answer them.Without further ado, I’ll say the rest of the things I have to say and hit the sack. I just came in from night flying and tengo mucho sueño. Thanks for the check, it will come in handy, and I do think that it will be enough.I got my graduation announcement today and would like to have them addressed and ready to mail out when I pass my desk so get out the phone book and copy me down about 15 or 20 names and addresses plus those of all my in laws and out laws that you think would be interested in knowing I graduated. Some of those that I can think of are the Castalaws, the Polaches home address, Mr. Beatty, Mr. Nord, Mr. Hager, Mr. and Mrs. Herman, Mrs. Feagan, Mr. & Mrs. McDaniel, Mr. Turpin, Mrs. Turner, Mrs. Harrison, Mr. & Mrs. Lehay, Mr. & Mrs. “Slim” Larson, maybe I’d better order some cards, Mr. Cameron’saddress in Arlington if you can get a hold of it, Mrs. Davies and any more that you can think of that I should have plus my in laws and out laws that I mentioned before. I’ve got to have there in pretty much of a bustle, so Ruth it looks like you are it, you sweet little thing. And when you write don’t let me forget to send Leonard Luckett one, I’m so sleepy now that I might forget that I thought of him tonight. Oh yes, Mr. & Mrs. Hawkins & Fay, if she isn’t living with them. I know Lavon’s address so don’t send me it, you might remind me of her though because she just almost slipped my mind right then. I’m quittin’! I’ll read this in the morning and see if it makes sense. If it does I’ll mail it,if it doesn’t I’ll correct it and then mail it.Love,Joe
