dc.description.transcription8-11-44Dear Folks,From the looks of things now, it’s a pretty good thing that we had our visit when we did. I am going to Lincoln Neb. like I hoped that I would but they aren’t giving as much traveling time as I had hoped for. Although I am through witheverything they won’t let us leave until Tuesday and we have to be there Thursday. So you can see that there won’t be much time for a layover anywhere. Maybe 30 or 40 minutes in Ft. worth if I’m lucky. I’ll probably pass through at 0300 in the morning anyhow. We’ll be traveling on G.I. Pullmans so the trip, with the exception of passing through Ft. worth and not stopping won’t be so bad. There are not very many on shipping orders as yet. Theonly ones are the few who are going to first pilot school at Maxwell and the others, not many more, who are going to Lincoln with me. There is no telling where the rest of them are going because a notice was put on the bulletin board today telling them that they would be officially alerted at 1200 tomorrow, packed and ready to go anywhere, anytime at a moments notice. They may not go anywhere for a week or two but when they do it will be all of a sudden. And probably they will go to a place where it will be awfully easy to get their feet wet.Two of the boys who were onshipping orders tried to get a pass to go to Mexico this afternoon but were refused. So unless something changes, and quick, you can just forgot about the hose. I’ll try to get a pass but more than likely I’ll be refused too.If Ruth wrote me a letter about W.Y. I didn’t get it so lets have some information. There is some awfully nice sun outside soI am going to go absorb a little bit of it now so this will be all until I learn something new.Love,Joe
