dc.description.transcription9-13-44Dear Folks,Once again I am not earning the money that the gov’t is paying me. I haven’t been off ofthe ground since I have been here. The rest of my section has been in the “wild blue” every other day from 6 to 9 hours but not me. The first pilot that I had was assigned to another crew the first day I got here and they gave me that captain that I wroteyou about. It happened that there was a co pilot here that had seniority over me so he asked for the captain and got him. Then they assigned me to another crew with a different first pilot. I haven’t met him yet and in fact I don’t even know his name. He is in the hospital or something, any how he hasn’t shown up for flying. I don’t know whether I’ll be put back a month or whether I’ll have to make up this time. I’d like to go ahead with this bunch of boys but it surely will be hard to catch up with them.I got the letter with the money order in it just in case you were worrying about it. I also got another one from Mama today and a typewritten 6 pages from Amy yesterday. I was glad to hear of Jerry’s good luck. Also Amy get Jerry to tell you what a pressure chamber is. It’s not a meeting with the big shots. While I am dishing about it. There won’t be a war bond sent by the gov’t. for the month of Sept. There was a mixup of some kind but it will be started again in Oct.I hate to write such a short letter but there just isn’t any news.I’ll write again when there is something else to tell. All my love,Joe
