dc.description.transcription10-24-44Dear Folks,Like I told you last night I have today off so I’ll drop you a line. It is 1130 now and I just crawled out of my sack. Lazy aren’t I?Before I forget it, like I did last night, Papa, send me a couple more clip boards. If they are available make them wood, legal size just like the one I have now. They aren’t for me, but for my engineer and my pilot.Say Mama, I don’t believe in mental-telepathy either but quit dreaming about flames and concentrate on parachutes. Parachutes might be a lot of fun but I doubt if this could be said about the flames. You asked me how I liked the climate etc. here. I’ll just put it this way. I am afraid that there is going to be a population shortage East of the Mississippi after the war. I haven’t heard anyone making any plans but I don’t see how anyone could go back East after they have seen the blue skies and breathed the fresh air of the West. If I didn’t know better, I could almost believe that I was in Texas sometimes.I haven’t been out to see Cecil or Don for quite a while but probably will this afternoon since I have today and most of tomorrow morning off. Besides that I am broke and there is nothing else better to do. I am going to make her cook me a Mexican dinner too. I’ll also see if I can see Prof. A.R. Reed.It is time to eat dinner so I’ll quit and comply with my stomach’s orders. All my love,Joe
