O: MRS. E.A. HAYS 512 W MULKEY FT WORTH, 4 TEXAS FROM: F/O J.W.HAYS T-64121 707 52 446 68A.P.O. 558 C/O POST MASTER, N.Y. N.Y.4-12-45Dear Folks,I wrote you an air mail yesterday so will follow up with a V today.Yesterday I didn’t know where I was going on my pass that starts tomorrow but today it has been decided. A notice was put up for me to report to 2ndAir Division Hdq. to be interviewed for my promotion. After I get that done I’ll be as far along as I was in Tucson. This Army! It will only take about half of the day then after that I guess I’ll go to London and spend the rest of my pass. If I had any place important that I really wanted to go I’d tell them to take that commission and jam it down their throat. Now for some odds and ends in the remaining space. I got three more letters today, all from Mama. This is another very nice day. Include in that package I asked for yesterday about a dozen large corks, about an inch and a quarter or an inch and a half long. The kind I used to play cork ball with in the back yard. The purpose? To play cork ball. I mailed a package home today. Should take about a month.Love, Joe[V-MAIL]
