O: MRS. E.A. HAYS 512 W MULKEY FT WORTH, 4 TEXAS FROM: F/O J.W.HAYS T-64121 707 52 446 68A.P.O. 558 C/O POST MASTER, N.Y. N.Y.4-16-45Dear Folks,Back again without a scratch, from another pass. I didn’t do anything of interest this time but I had a good time just relaxing. Truthfully I didn’t feel too much like kicking up my heels on account of the President’s death. I spent the first day like I said, at Hdqs. being interviewed. After that I met Tom in Norwich and we went to London together. We took in a couple of picture shows but spent most of the time sleeping. When I got back last night I had three letters waiting. Two from Amy and one from Mama. And today I finally got a package. The one from Mama containing the candy, soap, pecans, hair oil, and the socks you were knitting. If them socks ain’t fresh from Monnings I’ll eat ‘em. I haven’ eaten any of the other stuff yet as it is time for dinner, and I don’t want to spoil my meal. Everybody that believes that stand on their head. I haven’t eaten it yet but it is because there is a gang around and I at least want two pieces of candy. Out of paper so all my love, Joe.[V-MAIL]
