March 8, 1944: Dear Dad, Lately 4 or 5 officers have received letters saying that their relations have been asked not to write so much. I wish you would check on this as letters are all we have to look forward to. The Germans censor them as soon as they arrive but not many are arriving. Parcels come faster than mail. No letters from Jean in 3.5 months. It takes average of 90 days for US mail while English mail comes in 30. Also ****. Some officers have had only 2letters since January 1st, love, Amon Jr.
