July 31, 1944 Dear Dad, So far everything is fine. Today is really pretty and I have been talking with a lot of the boys about the future and what we will do. Have also been taking a lot of exercise and getting my feet in good condition. Lt RC White from Monroe LA arrived from Italy. He roomed next to Pat and I at Culver. Good fried of Jack Habel. Heard about Tex Hightower from new arrival. Now weigh 1665. Lots of love. Amon Jr. Read 9-23-44
